Day 06- Nazca Lines

Tearing ourselves away from Puerto Inka, our group began a short 101 mile trek up along the coast with a deliberate turn east back into the desert near the end of the run, to arrive in Nazca.

Admittedly, Nazca is a dusty little outpost in the San Jose desert.  However, it’s home to the Nazca lines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines) and hosts an avid tourist business to view them, be it from a scaffold or an airplane.

While fueling up along the way, I encountered a young lady selling pastries between the pumps.  Admiring the bike, she complimented her way right onto the pillion seat for a few laps of the station’s lot.

Later that afternoon, I fell in line as a tourist and did the flight over the Nazca lines.  They are indeed amazing, but this from a guy who was sucked in by the crop circles at home in the US.  This is the stuff of the History Channel Ancient Aliens late-night programming.

The plane’s altimeter read 3,500 ft. Here’s one of the hundreds of Nazca Lines.
