Don’t put off until tomorrow…

Sitting at dinner, near 7:30 last night, the thought occurred to ride up to the Salmon Glacier before the 10 pm end of daylight.  “Naw, just chill.  You can get it tomorrow,” said the little horned figure seated on my right shoulder.

“Tomorrow” brought with it copious amounts of thunder and rain.  Cloud cover dropped to shoe-sole level and dirt roads became mud roads.  The 3 day forecast was made by Xerox, so there was no point in hanging around Stewart BC waiting for decent glacial access.  The order of the day then became: oatmeal, pack and scoot another 291 miles to Prince Rupert.

Fahrenheit readings all started with the number 5 today.  Rain was my constant companion along with a few heavenly mothballs.  The mosquito index fell to zero.

Highway 37 south led to highway 16 west, which took me along the Skeena River, a massive drainage system for these parts, for the balance of the day.  Lake Prudhomme proved to be one of the most picturesque sights thus far.  At the junction of highways 37 and 16, several of us who have met at various other parts of our journeys, once again crossed paths as we refueled and ate bad pizza and good Snickers.

Having now arrived at Prince Rupert BC, I have a few days to explore the town and surrounding area.  On Friday, BMW meets BC Ferry and we’re both off to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island.

  1. Hi Rich…..that Prudhomme Lake is sure serene and peaceful looking, eh, …could sense the calm. Nice pictures. Neat that you’re meeting up with other bikers….are they any of the ones you met in Dawson Creek?

  2. Glad to hear from you. I’m new at this so when you don’t write every day I get nervous! Beautiful pictures again, thanks for keeping us updated. Be safe.
